Factory Finish | Plug & Play Harness | Steering Wheel Controls Retained | Local Support
Why Professional Installation?
A head unit is only as good as the installation behind it. A DIY install done incorrectly can cause electrical faults, blown fuses, loss of steering wheel controls, failed reverse cameras and voided warranties. Our technicians have fitted hundreds of units across every major vehicle make — we know the quirks, the wiring traps and how to get everything working first time.
DIY Installation
- Risk of incorrect wiring causing electrical faults
- Steering wheel controls may stop working
- Factory reverse camera can lose compatibility
- Canbus errors and warning lights if not configured correctly
- Voided warranty if damaged during installation
- No support if something goes wrong after fitting

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to buy my head unit from Extnix for you to install it?
We specialise in fitting Extnix units as we know them inside and out — every wiring configuration, canbus setting and compatibility detail. We strongly recommend purchasing your unit from us to ensure correct fitment and full warranty support. Contact us before booking if you have a unit from another brand.
How long does installation take?
Most standard installations take between 1 and 3 hours depending on the vehicle. More complex vehicles with factory Rockford audio, 360 cameras or DCC systems may take longer. We'll give you a time estimate when you book.
Will my steering wheel controls still work?
Yes — all Extnix head units retain factory steering wheel controls via the plug-and-play harness. Our installation includes configuring and testing these before handover.
Will my factory reverse camera still work?
For vehicles with a factory reverse camera, we connect it through the correct retention harness. For vehicles without a factory camera, a new AHD reverse camera is supplied and fitted as part of the kit.
Can I get a dash cam fitted at the same time?
Yes — and we recommend it. Combining a head unit and dash cam installation in one visit saves time and cost. See our Package 02 and Package 03 options above.
Do you service areas outside Epping?
Our workshop is in Epping and all installations are done on-site. We cover all of Melbourne — customers travel from across the city for our service. If you are outside Melbourne, our products ship Australia-wide with detailed installation guides and video support.
What if something doesn't work after installation?
As the retailer and installer, we support you end to end. If anything isn't working as expected after your installation, contact us directly and we'll sort it — no being passed between a manufacturer and an installer.
How do I book?
Contact us via the form below or call us on 1300 096 212. Let us know your vehicle make, model and year, which Extnix unit you have or are interested in, and your preferred appointment time. We'll confirm availability and send you the workshop address.
