1. Introduction & Safety
Thank you for choosing an Extnix infotainment system. This manual explains how to use your system day to day. Please read it and keep it for future reference.
This is an operations manual, not an installation guide. We strongly recommend professional installation.
1.1 Precautions & warnings
- Never watch video while driving. The system includes streaming apps such as YouTube, Netflix and Disney+. These are for use only when the vehicle is safely parked.
- Only glance at the screen when it is safe to do so.
- Do not follow navigation instructions that are unsafe or illegal. Navigation may occasionally show your location incorrectly.
- Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear traffic and emergency vehicles.
- Stop using the unit immediately if a fault appears, and contact Extnix.
- Avoid exposing the unit to high moisture or dust.
- Wiring and installation should be done by a qualified installer. Before wiring, disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- As an aftermarket product made to suit various models, minor fascia or frame adjustment may be needed for your vehicle.
2. Getting Started
2.1 Home screen
The default home screen shows widgets for Map, Phone, the music player and Apps along the bottom. Use the switch at the left (car / apps icon) to change the bottom row between widgets and an app dock with Radio, Music, Video, Navigation, Settings, DSP and YouTube.

The home screen layout changes with the selected theme (see Section 6). Other examples are shown below.

2.2 The bottom bar
The bar along the bottom of the screen is always available. From left to right:
| Icon | Function |
|---|---|
| Grid | Open all apps |
| House | Return to the home screen |
| Curved arrow | Back |
| Stacked layers | Recent apps (switch, close, split screen) |
| Screen | Display / screen options |
| Speaker | Volume |
| Coloured shortcut buttons | Screen off, brightness, quick panel and settings shortcuts |
The bar position can be changed in Settings → General → Navigation bar buttons (Section 8.2).
2.3 Recent apps & split screen
Tap the stacked layers icon to see open apps. Tap a card to switch to it, swipe it away to close it, or tap Clear all to close everything. Use Split to show two apps side by side, for example navigation and music, and Screenshot to capture the screen.

2.4 Apps
Tap the Apps icon (or the grid icon on the bottom bar) to see all installed apps. Swipe left and right to move between pages. Pre-installed apps include Car Settings, Chrome, Contacts, DSP, Fan, File manager, Fuel, Google, Maps, Music, Play Store, QuickPic, Radio, Steering Wheel, Torque (Lite) OBD, Video, YouTube and ZLINK. More apps can be added from the Play Store.

2.5 Changing a home screen shortcut
Long-press a shortcut icon on the home screen to open Select application. Tap the app you want in that position. Use Display to edit the icon and Associate to remove the shortcut.

On some themes, a long-press shows two options: Set application (choose which app the icon opens) and Change entry (swap the icon for a different shortcut).

2.6 Drop-down menu
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick menu. Swipe up, or tap outside the buttons, to close it.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Left slider | Screen brightness |
| Right slider | Volume |
| Internet | Wi-Fi on/off; shows the connected network. Long-press for Wi-Fi settings. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth on/off |
| Mobile data | 4G data on/off (needs a SIM card) |
| Suspension | Turns the floating shortcut button on or off |
| Screen shot | Captures the screen |
| Power Off | Turns the screen and sound off until you tap the screen again |
| Clear memory | Closes background apps to speed the unit up |

| Screensaver | Shows the clock screensaver |
| Gear (top right) | Opens Settings |

3. Phone & Bluetooth
3.1 Pairing your phone
- Open Bluetooth from the home screen.
- Tap the phone-link tab. The unit's device name and PIN are shown on the right.
- On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and select the device name shown on screen.
- If asked, enter PIN 0000 and allow access to contacts and call history.

The top tabs, from left to right, are: keypad, call history, contacts, pairing and Bluetooth settings.
3.2 Bluetooth settings
In the settings tab you can change the device name and PIN, and adjust microphone gain (raise it if callers say you sound quiet) and volume gain.

3.3 Second Bluetooth: OBD & tyre pressure
The system has two independent Bluetooth chips. One handles phone calls and music. The second can connect to a Bluetooth OBD adapter to view engine information (for example with the Torque app), or to Bluetooth TPMS tyre pressure sensors. Open it from Bluetooth settings → Bluetooth data service.

4. Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto (ZLINK)
Open ZLINK from the home screen. Choose CarPlay, Android Auto, HUAWEI HiCar or Mirror (screen mirroring).

4.1 First-time connection: Apple CarPlay (iPhone)
- Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned on on your iPhone.
- Pair the iPhone with the unit via Bluetooth (Section 3.1).
- When the iPhone asks, tap Use CarPlay. CarPlay will start automatically on later trips.
- For wired CarPlay, connect the iPhone to the unit's USB cable.
4.2 First-time connection: Android Auto
- Make sure Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location are turned on on your phone, and the Android Auto app is up to date.
- Pair the phone with the unit via Bluetooth (Section 3.1).
- Follow the prompts on your phone to allow Android Auto. It will start automatically on later trips.
Swipe left or right on the ZLINK screen to choose the connection type, then tap it. The Bluetooth name to look for on your phone is shown at the top right. The ZLINK version is shown at the bottom right.

4.3 Screen mirroring (Mirror)
Mirror shows your phone's screen on the unit. On an iPhone, open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and select the unit. On Android, use your phone's Smart View / Cast / Screen mirroring option. Mirroring is intended for use while parked.

4.4 ZLINK settings
Tap SETTING on the ZLINK screen.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Driver Position | Puts the CarPlay/Android Auto dock on the driver's side. Set to R for Australian right-hand-drive vehicles. |

| Floating Navigation | Shows a floating shortcut button over other apps. |
| Background Connection | Keeps CarPlay/Android Auto connected while you use other apps on the unit. |
| Default Connection Type | Chooses which mode starts automatically. |

5. Wi-Fi & Internet
An internet connection is needed for the Play Store, online maps, streaming apps, weather and online themes. You can connect to your phone's hotspot or a home Wi-Fi network. CarPlay and Android Auto do not need this connection.
- Open Settings → Network and turn on WiFi network.
- Tap WiFi to see available networks, and select yours.
- Enter the password and tap the ✓ key. The network will show Connected.

6. Themes
Open the Theme app to change the look of the home screen. Swipe through the available themes and tap Use to apply one.

6.1 Offline & online themes
Offline themes are already stored on the unit and need no internet. Tap the person (Login) icon at the top right of the Theme screen to open them. The Theme tab lists the built-in home screen styles (TW2, TW5, TW8_B, TW13, TW15 and more). The Screensaver tab lists the clock screensavers. Tap one to preview it, then apply it.

Online themes can be downloaded free with an internet connection. The first time you open the Online theme store, read and accept the Service Agreement and Privacy Policy. If the unit is not connected, tap Open network to connect to Wi-Fi.

Once connected, browse the recommend and newest tabs, tap a theme to preview it, and download it free.

7. Sound & DSP
Open DSP to fine-tune your sound. The tabs along the bottom are EQ, Surround Sound, Zone, Bass Boost and Bass Filter.
7.1 Equaliser (EQ)
Choose a scene preset (Pop, Classical, Rock, Soft, Vocal) by tapping Scene Mode, or select Custom Mode and drag the bands to set your own sound. Bands run from Ultra Bass (20 Hz) through Bass and Medium Bass to the higher frequencies. Tap the reset arrow at the top right to return to flat.

7.2 Surround sound & listening position
Choose who the sound is focused on: Full car mode, Driver mode or Co-pilot mode. The system adjusts the delay for each speaker automatically. You can also drag the orange dot to set the listening position, and pick a sound field: Normal, Recital or Concert.

7.3 Zone, Bass Boost & Bass Filter
Zone sets the front/rear and left/right balance. Bass Boost adds low-frequency punch. Bass Filter sets the crossover for a subwoofer, if fitted.
8. Settings

| Astern forward view | Front camera view (if a front camera is fitted). |
| Reversing volume control | Lowers music volume while reversing. |

8.5 About
Settings → About shows your unit's hardware and software details: platform (TS105), processor, memory, screen resolution, Android version and software versions. If you contact Extnix support, a photo of this screen helps us identify your unit and software. Tap Detection update to check for software updates.

8.6 Software updates
With the unit connected to the internet, tap Settings → About → Detection update. Check System upgrade or MCU upgrade for a new version. If one is available, tap Click download and wait for it to finish.

When the download finishes, tap Update now (or Update later). The unit enters upgrade mode for 5 to 10 minutes. Don't touch the screen or turn off the ignition until it restarts.

Cloud protocol update keeps the vehicle-specific files (original car functions, air-conditioning display) up to date. It shows You are the latest version when nothing is needed.

8.7 Sound
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Key tone | Beep when you touch the screen. On or off. |

| Mix settings | Set the NAVI voice level and how much background music drops while navigation speaks. |

8.8 Button light colour
Open the Color app to change the colour of the unit's button lights. Tap a colour or use the colour wheel. Mono keeps one colour, Cyclic rotates through colours and Breath slowly fades in and out. Turn on Follow the headlights to dim the lights when your headlights are on.

8.9 More General settings
Scroll down in General for: App permissions, Video suspension window (video keeps playing in a small window), Application self start (apps that open at start-up), Car battery level and Phone battery level (show or hide in the status bar), Video Output Setting, and the Floating button (a shortcut button that floats over other apps).

8.10 Voice
Mode selection sets what the steering wheel voice button does: by default, a short press starts the car's voice assistant and a long press starts your phone's (Siri or Google Assistant). Speech Software Selection chooses which app voice commands are sent to.

8.11 Personal
Sign in to your Google Account, change the Language and keyboard (Input method settings), or open Phone link APP.

8.12 System, time & date
System contains MCU upgrade, System upgrade, Time and date, Developer Options and Reset factory. Time and date set themselves from GPS and the network. Leave Set time automatically, Use GPS to set date time and time zone Set automatically turned on.

9. Radio, Navigation, Media & Steering Wheel
9.1 Radio (FM & AM)
Open Radio. Tap Band to switch between FM and AM. Use the arrows at the top or the ◀◀ / ▶▶ buttons to tune, and the search button to scan for stations. Six presets (P1–P6) are shown on the right: tap to play, long-press to save the current station.
On FM, RDS shows station names. TA (traffic announcements), AF (alternative frequency), REG (regional) and PTY (programme type) can be switched on or off. ST shows stereo reception and DX sets distant/local sensitivity.

9.2 Navigation
Open Navi to start your default navigation app (Google Maps is pre-installed). Online maps need an internet connection (Section 5). When CarPlay or Android Auto is connected, you can also use Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze from your phone.
The first time, tap Sign In to use your Google account (saved places, history). You can also download Offline maps for areas without mobile coverage.

9.3 Music, Video & File manager
Play music and video from a USB stick or the unit's storage using Music and Video. Use File manager to browse files and QuickPic to view photos.
Music shows the current song on the left and the playlist on the right. The buttons at the top right open favourites, the song list, Bluetooth music and the sound settings. The browse screen has tabs for all songs, folders, SD card, USB and favourites.

Video works the same way: open a folder (for example iNand for the unit's own storage, or the USB tab) and tap a video to play it. Videos only play when the vehicle is parked.

File manager shows the unit's storage (128 GB) and any USB stick or SD card. Use it to copy, delete or install files.

9.4 App store (Do Fun Play)
As well as Google Play, the unit has its own built-in app store, Do Fun Play, with Hot, Class (Car Life, Player, Tool), Sub, Manage and Dapp tabs. Use it to update built-in apps such as ZLINK and YouTube. Only install apps you trust; Extnix can't support third-party apps or problems they cause.

9.5 USB dash cam (optional accessory)
An Extnix USB front dash camera can plug into the unit's USB port and record through the HD DVR app.
- Plug the supplied USB stick into the unit, open File manager and tap usbdisk1 on the left.
- Tap bdCarDvr.apk, then Install, then Open.
- Connect the dash camera to a USB cable. Live video appears in the HD DVR app.

The buttons on the left are: home, recorded files, record, lock the current clip (protects it from being overwritten) and take a photo. Tap the gear icon for settings: record duration (1, 2 or 3 minute clips), audio recording, front flip, GPS watermark and speed unit (set to km/h).

To make it start automatically, set it in Settings → General → Recorder application selection.
Updating the HD DVR app
In HD DVR settings, open About → Check for updates. If a new version is offered, tap Confirm to download it. The first time, Android asks for permission: turn on Allow from this source, go back and tap Install.

ADAS driver alerts
Newer HD DVR versions add ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance): Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Front Vehicle Start Alarm (alerts you when the car ahead moves off). Turn on ADAS Switch in the ADAS tab, then tap Calibrate with the car parked on a straight, level road and line up the guide with the horizon and bonnet.

9.6 Steering wheel controls
On most vehicles the steering wheel buttons work automatically through the CanBus adapter. If your vehicle uses analogue buttons, they can be programmed in the Steering Wheel app.
- Open Steering Wheel and tap START.
- Press and hold a button on the steering wheel, then tap the matching function on screen (VOL+, VOL−, NEXT, PREV, MUTE, ANSWER and so on).
- Repeat for each button, then tap END to save.
- Test each button. Tap Reset to clear and start again.
If buttons won't learn, tap Impedance selection and switch between High (default, suits about 90% of vehicles) and Low, then learn the buttons again.
